Wet-Strength Engineering for the Cold Chain

Beverage packaging faces a nemesis that dry goods do not: Condensation. When a cold 4-pack of craft beer or a bottle of chilled cider is removed from a cooler, condensation forms immediately. Standard paperboard turns to mush when wet, leading to “bottom-out” failures where bottles crash to the floor.

Rice Packaging exclusively utilizes Wet-Strength Carrier Board (CUK/SUS) for beverage applications. This material is impregnated with a resin bond that repels moisture, ensuring your carrier remains rigid and secure even when soaked in a cooler or refrigerator.

Format Capabilities:

  • 4-Pack & 6-Pack Carriers: Custom die-cut handles and reinforced bottoms for glass bottles and aluminum cans.

  • Bag-in-Box outers: High-strength corrugated dispensers for wine or syrup concentrates.

  • Shelf-Ready Trays: Corrugated display trays that hold 12 or 24 units, designed for quick stocking in grocery environments.

Sustainability: Replaces Plastic Rings

The beverage industry is rapidly moving away from plastic rings due to environmental pressure and EPR regulations. Our paperboard carriers are 100% recyclable and biodegradable. We can design custom “neck-through” headers or fully enclosed cartons that eliminate single-use plastic entirely, giving your brand a premium, eco-conscious advantage.

Yes. While printing on brown kraft (CUK) presents challenges, our G7 Master Qualified prepress team utilizes opaque white under-printing techniques. This allows us to print vibrant logos and specific brand colors on brown board without them looking muddy or washed out.

Yes. We have an extensive library of die-lines for standard 12oz cans, 16oz “tall boys,” and the increasingly popular slim cans used for seltzers and energy drinks. We ensure the aperture (hole) size is tight enough to hold the can rim securely.

Because beverage carriers require a custom steel rule die and wet-strength board, they are most cost-effective at runs of 2,500+ units. However, we can run smaller batches for limited-time seasonal brews or pilot launches.
